Learn to ride and get licensed!

You may choose from classes that have in person classroom sessions or online classroom sessions, but ALL beginning classes consist of two IN PERSON riding sessions ON A MOTORCYCLE.

Courses with an online classroom require completion of approximately 6 hours of classroom online via EMTC before attending two IN PERSON riding sessions of about 5 hours each.  You will be taking the written test as you progress though the course.  The riding test is given at the end of the second riding session.

(OPTION 1)

In-Person Sessions or Zoom

Classes with in person classroom/or Zoom sessions are usually scheduled over a two or three day period and include two IN PERSON classroom sessions/or Zoom of about 3 hours each and two IN PERSON riding sessions of about 5 hours each.  A written test is given at the end of the second classroom session and a riding test is given at the end of the second riding session. See below for details.  Since there is a lot less demand for this type of class we do not always have any on the schedule.  If we do not have any classes with the in person classroom option on the schedule, let us know if you would like to be on the waitlist to be notified when we schedule more of them.

EMTC Online Classroom Sessions in Person Riding Sessions

EMTC is an endorsement course for novice riders with four to six hours of online classroom instruction and ten hours of range (on-cycle) instruction. The course takes place over two days and builds fundamental street-riding skills and strategies. Classroom is done at home on the computer.

The online classroom is highly interactive, using video and other features to address risk management, riding strategy, roadway management, impairments and special riding situations like carrying passengers and group riding. Participants complete all classroom activities (6 chapters) before the first riding session, and show proof of completion to the instructor. Students who have not completed the online classroom may be dismissed from class.

Completion cards are awarded to graduates of EMTC. To receive a completion card, you must complete all classroom activities (6 chapters) and on-cycle riding sessions, pass the online quizzes and pass an on-cycle skill test.

We are part of the California Motorcyclist Safety Program and we are certified to teach the CMSP Motorcyclist Training Course (MTC). The MTC is mandatory for those under the age of 21, but is also recommended to those 21 and older who are seeking to obtain a motorcycle endorsement on their California driver license.

The Motorcyclist Training Course is designed for the novice rider with no (or limited) street-riding experience. A typical class schedule consists of 6 1/2 hours of classroom instruction and 10 hours of riding practice. During this motorcycle riding course, you will learn fundamental skills required to operate the motorcycle and progress to street riding skills and strategies. Even though the Motorcyclist Training Course was designed with new riders in mind, most experienced riders that have taken the course have reported improving their riding skills considerably with it!

Topics covered include fear, understanding how motorcycles turn, proper cornering strategies, and emergency crash avoidance skills. The course is based on the most current research in rider safety and utilizes modern training methods.

Our course may waive the DMV riding skills test. Neither passing nor getting licensed is guaranteed.

Upon successful completion of the Motorcyclist Training Course, you will receive a DMV riding test waiver. There are written and riding evaluations after the course to ensure you have competence in the material covered in the basic course—you must pass both evaluations to graduate. Per California regulations, you will still need to complete the DMV written test.
